Coat Closet

image

On my to do list, the next project for the house is to organize the coat closet. This closet I currently use for storing kids toys, shoes, school backpacks, and jackets. What I would like to do with my husband’s help of course, is build a storage unit to organize the toys and shoes.

I found cubbies at the dollar store for 0.99 cents each. I have about 12 and I plan to label them for toys. I want one to read outside shoes. The others will have labels that may read puzzles, blocks, books, doll house, small cars, and so on.

The unit will be built-in and go as high as the wall at the back of the closet and on one side when one opens the door. This should give me lots of space to finally organize the toys and be easy to find and put things away when the kids are done playing.

This project has me exited! I can’t wait to have after pictures to share my accomplishments.

Organized Garage

image My husband has been working very hard to organize our garage. He has done so much all ready. It looks one hundred times nicer than when we moved in 4 1/2 months ago. Back then, everything was in piles and on the floor. There was no room to even walk thru the garage from one end to the other. Now there is room for my Van to be parked in the garage.

My husband is working on work benches and they are coming along. He enjoys working in the garage. I think it relaxes him which makes me very happy.

I have given him a list of projects now that he can find his way around the wood working tools and equipment. He is even helping my brother build a bar for his house. In the to do list I have given him is a shelf unit for the downstairs closet which I use to store the kids toys, school backpacks, outside shoes, and jackets.

Guest Bathroom

DSCN0236-1

The guest bathroom is complete. The decor is a soft lime green with different shades of lavender. There are a couple of things that I still would like to purchase to make it final.  I need a nice rug that goes well with the theme I am going for and hand towels. I need hand towels for every day use and special occasions. DSCN0237

I think the white trim, door and power cabinet gives it that feminine touch I was hoping for. I think it looks fresh, clean, and bright. Something needed for a small space with no windows like this guess bathroom is.

DSCN0238Over all I believe it looks great.  I particularly like the small accents I was able to find that give it that final touch.  The hardware is modern with a touch of country that is added by an old hand made cross stitched art.  The frame is hand painted with a forest green and the paper where the art sits is a dark, deep lavender.  DSCN0240

The flowers and green leafs, the green and lavender decorative soap add to the freshness of the room.

Formal Dining Table

imageThe formal dining room is finally finished. It took me five months to get it finish. Actually, the paint and supplies were sitting in my closet for five months. The coming together of the room was about 12 hours of total work. I feel good about the results.

Things are coming along. I think with time I will have the master bedroom done the way I want it along with family room and game room.

I get so exited about decorating and enjoy it very much. I figure I sat and watched enough HGTV shows that now it’s time to actually create some of those rooms that I have put together in my mind.

All in all, I think with my spare time slowly increasing (kids going to school and all), I am enjoying quiet time to do some of the things that I have a passion for.

Finally Settled In

We are mostly settled in. The move was a killer. Moving with three little ones is not an easy thing to do. It took several days for the move. Packing and driving stuff over in between naps took coordination but it got done.

I am happy for the most part even though the painting is not complete yet.

The kids are back to their normal loud self and I feel right at home. Three months later and there are no boxes which I feel it’s a big accomplishment.

Boys Bathroom Theme

photo-1This is fun.  Decorating the boys bathroom.  Choosing a Theme.  I think the     boys bathroom theme should be fishies!  They love to take showers and baths so what’s more appropriate then fishies.

I think Mikey will love the idea.  He is so exited about his new bedroom theme all ready.

I still don’t know what I should do in Genesis room.  She enjoys water as much if not more then the boys but I don’t want to do both bathrooms with fish.  Maybe duckies for her.

Final Walk Thru

images-2 The final walk thru went very well.  I honestly was not expecting it to go that well.  Everything has been done to our satisfaction and things are looking very very good.

I guess now Mark, my foreman will just hire a company to do the spot cleaning before we move and his job is done.

I have been very happy with the way things have progressed.  I can not complaint.

Now the race is on to start packing.  I have to admit that with three little ones four and under this is not very easy.  Having them sick all this time with the flu on and off is not made things easier for me.

Closing Date

images The Closing Date has been moved to the first week in April.  I guess I should be happy since I have not packed anything yet.  This gives me one more week to procrastinate.

I know it sounds bad but I think it may be related to stress.  But at least I now know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  We have a closing date and it’s not too far off!  I never would of thought the construction company would be waiting on us and not the other way around.

Loan Company

We are having problems with the Loan Company.  I guess about 15 days ago our loan officer was told it would take 10-14 working days to finish the paperwork but 15 days later they have not even looked at our paperwork.

My husband told the loan officer to submit to a different Bank.  Today is the 19th and we are suppose to close on the 26th.  The is exactly one week away.  I don’t think it’s going to happen that day.

This is the portion of buying a house that I don’t like.  I wish that Banks would make this process a lot less difficult for home buyers.

So new Loan Company it is!

The First Walk Thru

Today was the first walk thru.  It was all right.  There were several things on the list for the construction company to fix.  I think it is nice that there is a third party that does the walk thru with the buyers.

The person walking the house with us was very nice.  He is also from Cali.  He was very knowledgeable and very nice.  Things are coming together.

I hope the loan is ready on time.
